Bi-fold doors - aluminium or UPVC?

Hi Folks, looking for a bit of advice on bi-fold doors.
We're renovating and extending a 1950s house, and hope to have a 3 light bi-fold on the living room, and possible a 2 light one in the diner area of the kitchen diner.
We wondered how different the aluminium and the UPVC doors were. I thought maybe the aluminium framed ones might have a bigger glass area? Compared to the frames IYSWIM. Also wondered roughly what the price difference might be between them.
Sorry, don't have measurements to hand right now, so realise I won't get accurate prices, just some sort of idea of the difference is what we're after.
Oh, also hope to have as low threshold as possible as I'm very prone to tripping.

Thanks Ormus, these are doors to outside rather than internal. We took the (very old and we assume not toughened) glass folding doors out of the living room already - it's a through room, but had the glass doors to separate the two halves. We prefer to have it just one single room, though it is a rather odd shape!0 -
why not get some quotes for all three types, upvc, aluminium and timber?!
the upvc ones i've seen appear to have an awful lot of flex in them in a big opening...This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
the difference in price isnt that great, unless youre looking at the premium market end.Get some gorm.0
