UPVC Door quote

I've just had three quotes from three different companies for a upvc front door (panel with glazing) and a half panel half glass back door.
The lowest quote so far is £920 supplied, fitted, finnishings and inclusive of VAT.
Does anyone know if this is a resonable price?

We just had a door fitted last month and were charged £1000 for the whole door + side panel / frosted windows and installation.....so doesnt seem that bad to me unless i was ripped off ! :cool:0

all depends on the quality and where you live?
around here you can get a DG door supplied/fitted for 300 quid.Get some gorm.0 -
We have been quoted by one company for composite front door (no glazing), back door (half glass) and sliding patio door (in-line sliding) about £2800 supplied and fitted. Of those, the front door was about £950, and the back door about £750.
No, that is what I call rip-off. Yes, composite doors are more expensive than plain UPVC ones, but still - that was too expensive.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Went back to the supplier and they have brought the price down to 900 pounds (for the two doors) and the doors come with a higher spec locking system.
If I choose a lower grade locking system which still passes security standards (i.e. hook locking system) they say they will do it for 890 pounds.
This came with white handles, but they also said they will upgrade to silver handles & letter box as well.
Quotes vary, I would suggest getting three quotes and then get them to beat each other till you get the lowest price you can.
From the three quotes I had they started at 1150 pounds, and by getting them to beat each others quote, I got down to the lowest quote of 890 pounds.0 -
10 quid off for a cheaper locking system?
sounds like a load of old cobblers to me.

I think £900 is a good quotation.
Obviously Ormus is right that they may be dressing up some fake discount!
Check their work locally, check their FENSA details etc - best of luck!0 -
Cheers.
That's the lowest I can get. I feel 3 quotes is enough.
Doors also come with a 10 year guarantee and they have fitted some doors and windows in my area, so I've seen the quality of the doors. I've agreed to an installation date, as the lowest quote I could get elsewhere was £920, the other couldn't go below £950.
Got the design of doors and handles etc I wanted, I'm happy with that.
Still advise to shop around, and try to get the companies to beat each others quotes until they won't go any lower.0 -
can I ask where you are getting them from? - sounds good price - thanks!0

The UPVC Door company. The more glass you have in the door the more expensive it is, I needed more glass in the front door to let light in through my hallway (and it looked nicer too). If you're not bothered how much glass or what the door looks like you might be able to get a cheaper quote from them.
Remember to haggle with them...0
