Airmiles Cash Passport pre-paid card - any good?

They have an offer till 30 Sept where you get 300 airmiles if you load up with £500. Anyone used this card? Think it's run by Travelex.

Visa Electron is a debit or credit card available across most of the world, with the exception of Canada, Australia, Ireland and the United States. The card was introduced by VISA in the 1980s and is a sister card to the Visa Debit card. The difference between Visa Electron and Visa Debit is that payments with Visa Electron require that all the funds be available at the time of transfer, i.e., Visa Electron card accounts may not be overdrawn. Visa Debit cards, on the other hand, allow transfers exceeding available funds up to a certain limit. Some online stores and all offline terminals (like on trains and aircraft) do not support Visa Electron because their systems cannot check for the availability of funds.

In the case of you still being in doubt...

Yes, I read that before I posted. Just wanted to know if anyone had used it, as I asked originally. I've taken the plunge anyway and hope to get 355 miles for a cost of £10.

I've also done the same thing and got my 355 points. I withdrew the £500 back into my current account and now I am looking at closing the cash passport account. It is a ripoff all round - use GBP and it'll charge you 2%, use EUR or USD and it'll give you a dreadful rate. Best to cancel and cut up unless anyone has any ideas how to top up for free, but I would doubt the feasibility of this...

The only product worth a fig of that lot is the Travelex Cash Passport Globe.

I'm quite happy with my 355 miles for a £10 charge.

That's nice for you. :) Let's hope no one is actually tempted to use the card.
