Well, picked the Astra up on Friday evening, and said goodbye to the Scenic.

The Astra (so far) is a lovely car, nice to drive and this one is very clean on the bodywork and interior.

Only thing I need to do is have the fuel/trip computer activated. A lot of Astras come with a 'BC' button on the CD player, but when pressed it just says 'no function'. on modesl without the fuel/trip, this can be activated for use using 'Tech2' software, and there is an indipendant place near to work that will do it for £20 + vat. So going to get that done this week, hopefully.

As for the economy, I put £50 of fuel in when I picked it up, so will see how far I get for that to give me an idea of mileage - but I've just gotta forget about the economy I got with the Diesels I've had, and learn to drive with a lighter right foot! :o

Cheers again for all the advice/opinions offered last week.
  • Well, had my Astra for 12 days now, and have been monitoring my economy. Bearing in mind it being a petrol, I have been trying to drive a bit more carefully (for me), to see what miles I could get from it.

When I picked it up from the garage, it was running on fumes - the needle on the fuel gauge was flatlined! So I put £50 worth in, at 112.9/litre equated to 9.7 gallons. Don't think the tank was full to the brim, as the nozzle didn't click.

The fuel light came on yesterday at 345 miles, and today the fuel light has started flashing at me and I've done 375 miles - so the economy works out at about 38.5mpg, which I'm very happy with! :)
