hiya
i have just had my gas and electric meter read . im with british gas and electric meter is prepayment. i had to have it changed over to a key meter not so long ago.
anyways the man just said to me your only on one rate and before it used to be 2 cas his machine was asking him for 2 rate readings.
im abit angry by this because surely they should have told me i was only going to one rate - no wonder my electric is going down so fast because i still thought id be cheaper to have washing machine on at night etc.
should british gas have informed me of this when i got my new meter? and should i ring them to complain?- i want to but i dont know if its worth it or not because last time i complained no one answered my email! - has anyone else had the same problem?
thanks for reading

Hiya Bumble,
Are you an ecomony 7 customer? I think you need to contact BG and find this out, if you are, then they have fitted the wrong meter & should be able to change it for you. If you have any problems contact Energywatch http://www.energywatch.org.uk/

im not sure , i know i used to be on 2 rate system until i got this new meter fitted. trying to ring BG now and what a nightmare. had to press an option that isnt relevant because was the nearest thing to my problem! been on hold for about 10 mins now  not a happy bunny0 -
It sounds as though you were on E7 and they have put in the wrong meter. However have you checked the readings yourself as some meter readers are quite frankly carp.
Might save you effort contacting Bgas if he hasn't read it properly.
Also the reason as to why your credit may be going down quicker could be that your now being charged at the latest rate if your old PPM was not re-calibrated through price increases.0 -
Hi Bumble,
Check your meter. Mine only displays 1 rate, and will eventually show rate 2 if I keep pressing a black button. If there is only 1 rate showing I would ring Energywatch & explain what has happened, hopefully they will sort it out with BG for you. In my experience utility companies don't listen to their customers.
Good Luck

thanks for your replies. on my old meter i know there were 2 rates from when i took them myself but when i ranf BG they said it was i was always billed for 1 and then meantioned how the people who lived here b4 had storage heaters or something . i got really confused the guy was pretty helpful for him being british gas and said i was on right tariff. and if i wanted to querie i could take readings of my credit each day for 7 days and get back to them.
i swear i was on e7 b4 cas it was always cheaper to use electric at night but they recon im only using a unit anyways. oh well lol
thanks for your help0
