The cause of 150,000 delayed student loans…

The Student Loans Company released figures last week claiming that over 150,000 loans couldn’t be paid yet, due to the fact that the applicants hadn’t returned their online declaration form.
The declaration often gets forgotten about with student loans applications, people submit the firm online then tend to think that its complete. Sadly it’s not!
To me this seems a lot of delayed payments for what is probably the easiest part of the application. So if your loan is delayed, it may well be worth enquiring whether this is the issue by calling 0845 300 50 90 (remember to call early in the day so you’re not on hold for ages!)
The SLC do say they are contacting everyone who is affected, but in practice the Student Loans Company aren’t the most proactive at coming forward and telling applicants what it is that they need to do. Also, with many students obviously having moved house in the last week there’s the potential that this will get missed.
If this is the cause of the delay, you can download the online declaration form from your online account with the SLC. Then sign it, and return it them immediately.
Good luck!

Without wanting to be rude, you have said before, ring them. When you can perfectly just look online and it will tell you the status of your application? Majority of the time this will give you what you need to proceed, without having to waste as much time and money...0

I read EVERYTHING and yet I missed the declaration form. I'm a doofus.
Luckily, they sent another letter telling us they hadn't received it yet and my son got his loan in a timely fashion."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -

I am assuming that this doesn't apply to those who sent a paper form?
I have rung SF so many times that if I ever do get any money most of it will be going on the phone bill!'Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans'-John Lennon
