Santander - how to pay off overdraft

I called them today 3 times. I called a number, was put through to payment department, got an automated message to call another number, who put me back to payments who then hung up on me after being on hold for 30 minutes. Then the complaints department told me I'm not even allowed to make a payment by calling Santander with my debit card details from another bank. If this is the case, why did the 3 people I talked to earlier not tell me this? I'm almost certain I have paid some of my overdraft off this way before. Can I not pay off my overdraft by calling with card details or do I have to do it through another bank?

  • If you want to pay your overdraft you'll either have to transfer money from a different bank account or go into a branch and pay in some cash into your account, you cannot pay an overdraft with a debit card....
  • Thanks! I should have done that in the first place, actually. I wonder why I thought I did. I have so much going on my head is spinning, which is stressing me out. Cuppa tea is in order I think.
  • Ugh, I tried doing it online, but I need my card reader. Man, this day sucks.
