Can dealer drive my car if I remove tax disc?

Hi,

I purchased a used car at weekend. It's currently having parking sensors fitted - as such the dealer is going to deliver the car to my house (we're about 40 miles away hence this situation) and pick up my car that's being part-ex.

As there is 7 months road tax left on mine I was going to remove the tax disc and claim a refund. My only concern is can the dealer drive mine with no tax disc - obviously I wont send the tax disc to the DVLA until the next day so it is still taxed, it just what if they were seen driving it with no actual tax disc displayed.

On the part-ex form they've left the tax remaining field blank so there is no issue in me removing it, just if its still OK for them to drive.

Thanks

I'd hope for a 40 mile delivery that your car would be on a trailer, not just driven by the office junior or apprentice! And while I doubt if its appropriate in this case, trade plates are trade tax only, they don't cover for a missing or failed MOT.
Cash in you tax, its the dealers problem, not yours (and its too hard anyway for them to cash it in themselves).

Why? What is rong with it being driven on trade plates andI don't see any mention of the car not having an MOT.
  • Car has full 12 months MOT.

I think I'll just remove it and then it's their problem. The used car I bought from them had no tax so same situation really, just wanted to make sure no comeback on me.

If they do say it must have tax it'll be interesting to see what reason they use...

    Thanks
