Hi
I have a Toshiba satellite laptop with vista running on it. which will not load, over the last week or so it has randomly switched its self off and I have had to remove the battery for a few seconds to get it to power up again.
And now it will not load this is the error message I am getting.
PXE-E61 : media test failure,check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.
operating system not found.
I would be very grateful If any of you clever people could advise me on how to repair this. my knowledge of computers is not the best and I am completey confused as to why this has occured.

How old is it?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

sounds like the hdd is going/gone. You get this error because the pc can't see the OS on the hdd in order to load it up....
can you boot up with a live CD linux distro ?? Something like puppy linux will show you if the rest of the machine is ok or not (but I suspect it will be).
On the failing pc, enter BIOS on switch-on and check the boot order is set to boot from the cd drive first. Then, on another pc, download the puppy iso from here:-
http://puppylinux.org/main/index.php?file=Download%20Latest%20Release.htm
burn the image to cd, and use this to boot up the failing machine.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
It sounds to me like it is trying to boot off of the Network with PXE ,
Try pressing F2 or Del when it first switches on to get access the Bios and look for the boot parameters. see if it is just set for boot from network. You need to do this as soon as you press power (tap the keys from then)4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex .
