  • on the question of the playground, you could drive around the neighbourhood a few times at night to see if it is a problem

Playground is equally likely to be a problem during the day or at weekends with young ones. Little kids can make a huge noise with screaming, screeching and shouting when they are excited and playing.

Not a problem if you have your own kids that age and are used to it and will be using the playground yourself. Some people love the sound of kids playing. More of a problem if you enjoy the peace and quiet while sitting out in your back garden.

Have decided to rule it out but thanks for all the advice. Drove by and realised they paid £240k for it in Feb 09. Have house prices risen 25% since then to warrent their offers over £300k price?
Also makes me think the playground might be an issue if they have been there for such a short time and my OH thinks it is a security risk as the whole side of the property (with a 6ft wooden fence) runs along side it.

I know this sounds silly... but we live in a silly country now... Another thing about having a childrens' playground at the back is what happens if you are in your own garden taking family snaps and someone decides to report you for taking photos of the children in the playground?

I know that sounds far-fetched but you read ludicrous stories of similar such things in the papers almost daily now.

I have to admit, I would not be keen to have a childrens' playground near my own house mainly for noise issues - I like a house to be a haven of peace and to be able to relax in the garden. I would be concerned about teenagers coming to the playground at all hours, perhaps drinking and getting boisterous, perhaps throwing cans and rubbish into my garden as if it was their private rubbish bin and, worst of all IMPO, bringing ghettos blasters and playing loud music.

I do not know what the playground or the garden looks like so am just putting out ideas/concerns for you to think about.

    Best of luck.
