  • Thanks Toothsmith....they have actually given me a very good price. I am way too old and self conscious to go for regular braces...so for me Invisalign is the only system I would go for.
My regular dentist is somewhat basic to say the least...they think white fillings are new fangled and unnecessary!

What toothsmith was getting at is that the best people to move teeth are orthodontists. No matter how out of date your dentist is ... they would know of where to refer you to a reputable orthodontist. Also orthodontists as per their training - move teeth. They will be the most up to date with all methods available. A dentist that has done a course in invisalign would only really be able to provide invisalign. So basically ... the orthodontist can manage any problems that may crop up but also give you more information on suitability for treatments. If you see what I am saying? regards to self conscious ... as already stated there is clearstep which is similar to invisalign and also brackets bonded to the insides of your teeth and thus hidden. A general dentist is unlikely to be able to offer all these options as they would probably only have been on a course for one of them .

I asked my dentist to refer me for the invisalign and he said he'd refer me to 2 orthodontists (i live on the border between 2 health boards so one in each area) so that if one was backed up the other could see me first. I've googled both people and they appear to have completely different sets of letters after their names but as I trust my dentist i'm sure that one is probably just more specialised than the other.

I am hoping that i'll be suitable for an invisible system but i would consider a more traditional way of doing it if i had to because i really really want straight teeth.

I am sure you will be fine :) we normally refer to practitioners we rate as opposed to ones that scare us ;)
