Mobile Phone insurance help needed

Hi there,
I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who may be able to help me out with an appeal I am about to start with LSG (Lifestyle Group Insurance)
I unfortunately lost my iPhone a few weeks ago. I noticed it missing at around 3.30 on a Sunday 5th Sep. I immediately phoned my network and canceled the sim. I had to wait until the following day to see if anyone had been honest enough to hand it in at the bus depot. To be on the safe side I then informed the police and filled out the relevant loss report form.
After waiting to check one last time on the Tues and then the Wednesday to see if anything had been handed in to the bus depot decided to phone and put in my claim.
I have just found out that hidden in their t's and c's is the condition that the incident is reported within 48 hours.
I make it 58 hours when I made my claim!
I apparently have one opportunity to appeal and after that I cant do anything.
If you have been through a similar situation with them I would love to hear if you have had any luck with a claim.
Many thanks
Morton
