Housing benefit over payment advice

before i type this i am aware that i probably should just count my chickens but any way...
i receive housing benfit and i recently received a bonus i religously send my payslips every month because im a worrier about the very situation i am in i recevied a bonus of gross 1500 sent my payslip and have now been told that as it is half yealy bonus i owe them £900 to be taken at £20 a week until cleared icannot see the point in asking for it to spread over a longer period as if i am lucky enough to receive another one it will just snow ball the situation. i feel it sad that although i have worked hard for it the majority has now gone in tax ni and benefit reclaim do i have any hope of getting them to reduce the amount reclaimed
as i said at the beginning i know i am lucky to receive help but i had sillyly earmarked it for for things such as christmas and debt repayment now it seems that will not be the case

Yes i think you should count your blessings (not your chickens)
If youre not entitled to it you cant really expect to get it reduced or pay your debts now really, can you.
I think you knew what the answers were going to be before you hit the enter button.
I know its a disappointment but thats life.
