Ideal Standard Dual flush loo help please!

My loo is constantly filling and I can't flush it using either the large or small buttons.

I've managed to remove the buttons and remove the cistern lid and it looks like the problem may be caused by the fact that there is a longish plastic 'bag' attached to a part of the mechanism which has got a hole in it and the water is just pouring out of the bag. I tried searching for spare parts and found this:

Does anyone know of this is the part I need? If not any other suggestions please? I really can't afford to call out a plumber :(

Many thanks for any help.

Tha bag isn't a bag its a tube. It fits over the outlet from the fill valve and allows the incoming water to flow "silently" into the cistern.

Ether you have a leaking flush valve or its a badly adjusted fill valve allowing too much water in and its just coming over the internal overflow into the pan.

If its the latter adjust the float on the fill valve so that the float shuts off the incoming supply before it reaches the top of the overflow pipe.

If its the former and you also have problems getting the flush mechanism to operate then float test the existing flush valve and fit a Fluidmaster.

    Cheers.

    Hi,
Maybe i can help a little. I worked for Ideal Standard for a number of years.

If the loo is constantly filling, you may need only to service the inlet valve. The part that you say has a hole in it doesn't do anything other than make the loo fill quietly so that you don't hear the water splashing in.

If you call ideal standard customer care, they will talk you through it but basically you need to turn off the water supply and remove the top of the inlet valve. You should see a large locking nut at the top of the valve (either top or side depending on the model)
Then you will see a black diaphragm washer, remove this and clean it and also remove any parts behind the washer and clean. if this doesn't help it may need a service kit.

When you have the inlet probs sorted you will be able to see if it will flush.

    I hope this helps. :)
