Letting property in Barbados

Hi,

I wonder if anyone could give me some advice please?

My partners' parents own a home in Barbados (lucky them...) and wish to rent it out on a long let basis (6 months plus).

I have advised them to go with a Letting Agent since they do not have any reliable contacts in the country to assist both them and the tenant should the need arise, nor do they have any experience beyond renting the house as a holiday let. As a tenant I know how important it is to do the admin properly in the interest of all persons involved, and think an agency would be the best way to go about this.

Does anyone have any experience of letting overseas and are there any obvious pitfalls which I could point out to them in advance?

As it is I have looked at some agencies who offer the service in the area and we are enquiring about rates etc, and am looking for references and testamonials.

Are there other things which we should be asking?

Also if someone amazingly happenned to know of any reputable agencies in the area that would be greatly appreciated.

cant they let it to the professional expats over there? I used to live in Bermuda and Jamaica and was alwaays after a reliable long term let.

you need to find the local website the expats use.

coldwell banker are always reliable agents.

If you have no joy, i may be able to get some info for you.
