Carpet before wardrobe or after

Currently we have no carpets or cupboards in our bedrooms, money is not a problem but we think that the Pax wardrobes from Ikea will do the job as the sliding doors cater well for the space we have.
The question is: should we put the carpets BEFORE we assambled the Ikea units or should we do it after and just carpet to the edge?

If its sliding doors with a track on the room floor then don't put carpet under that - you'll need to install it and then carpet up to it. The runners curl and eventually split if they aren't on a solid surface.
That said Pax I think have the runners on the wardrobe rather than on the floor so this wouldn't be a problem. Having carpet underneath might cause slight issues if the back of the wardrobe is sitting on solid gripper rods while the front is on soft underlay in terms of getting it to stand level - but countering that if you don't carpet under the wardrobe you won't ever be able to move it or replace it without the expense of new carpet. On balance I would carpet under a free standing wardrobe.Adventure before Dementia!0 -

Built in furniture - wardrobes first and carpet up to them.
Freestanding furniture - carpets first and put furniture on top.
