in Credit cards
Hi Guys,
I'm completely confused about this one, as to why I always struggle to get credit cards, I've read most of the guides and check most of the boxes but for some reason I usually get declined.
I'm 21 - self employed, and have a monthly income after tax of around £2,200, obviously it varies month on month, but averages around this.
I rent privately, and am on the electoral register, and have lived in this property for 2 years now.
I have one other credit card, which is always paid on time, and have checked with experian and have nothing bad on my credit report. This credit card is with my current Bank First direct, who I've been with for around 4 years now.
Have a couple of credit agreements, home phone, broadband and two mobile contracts, never missed a payment on any of these.
Apart from not having lived at the property for 3 years, why do I struggle to get credit ?
James

I would imagine being self employed would be something to do with it, not sure why they would mark you down for that if you have a regular income but thye move in strange ways....."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

Is there any way of getting around this or is it just a case of waiting until I'm older ? Seems unfair that despite having rented the same place, and a fairly steady self employed income that I'd not be allowed credit.

You need to start with a sub prime, credit builder card mate, something like Cap 1 or Aqua
Have you tried the Barclays pre check tool? it doesn't damage your file with searches and you could qualify for one of their cards.

You could try Vanquis but that's the very bottom of the pile."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0
