When you say kettle, are you referring to the device that boils water for tea? If so how is that done? ...

...Surely she didn't cook the sauce directly against the element? Cant see that working at all.

You need a kettle with a concealed element (i.e. a flat metal bottom on the inside), splash of oil and a wooden spoon. I also forced the switch on mine so it didn't switch off automatically, thereby risking electrocution or a fire as well as food poisoning I suppose.

Anyway, with a concealed element it is just like a hot plate really. A little oil to try (and fail) to reduce the sticking and never stop stirring.

It also helps to have a 2 kettle system, in case you just want a cup of coffee!
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

    Hi nuttywoman,

There's an earlier thread where some people have had some success with this so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

I know that it's possible to cook salmon in a dishwasher as long as it's well wrapped in foil. I was wondering if anyone on here has ever actually done it. Also, what else has anyone ever tried, ....thinking it might be possible to cook steam puds like jam sponge, spotted !!!!!!. Any feedback, or suggestions?

My mum used to put the Christmas ham in the toilet cistern for 24 hours to soak the salt from it. The cisterns were huge then and could hold a hefty sized piece of meat!
