Hello,
I am currently on a low income and my Father has offered to let a house he has just purchased to me. I know I will qualify for Housing benefit and therefore want to ask if it was legal for me th rent the house from my Father then claim Housing benefit in order to pay my Council Tax and Rent to my Father who will then use the rent to pay off the mortgage he has on the property.
Thanks

Someone else on here just asked the same question, so if you use the search you will find all the information you require.0

I think JB99 means this thread:

I think the key issues are that you will need to ensure that everything is done properly and you are charged a fair market rent.0 -
Thanks all for the information. As I would not be renting as a commercial letting then I think the short answer is simply not to do it as I believe the Local Council would look on this as a means to defraud them of housing benefit by an arrangement that my Father and I would make.
Thanks again0
