units on higher rate
I am with Brit Gas on a fixed price contract for 1 year for Gas and Elect. With every quarterly bill the Kw hrs charged at the higher tariff are different. I cannot work out how this is done? it does not seem to be a percentage of total Kw hrs used. I had a similar thing when I was with Southern Electric. Calls to enquire how this is done have not helped as the person on the other end usually garbles on about total usage by all customers being the guide to how they bill. Can anyone out there clarify this for me.

Its not a percentage, its supposed to be a fixed number of units at the higher rate, the idea is that it takes the place of the standing charge.
For example:-
British gas Websaver 9.
Gas Standing charge 0.00p per day (£0.00 per year) Unit charge (pence per kWh) 6.530p for the first 670 kWh per quarter, and 2.796p thereafter.
Electricity Standing Charge 00p per day (£0.00 per year) Unit charge (pence per kWh) 22.446p for the first 125 kWh per quarter, and 9.012p thereafter. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Perhaps it's not what they wanted to hear, so they asked again in the hope of getting the answer they did want to hear?
