Help needed with PDF form-filling...

I'm new to PDF and have been emailed a PDF form which needs to be filled in and returned by email asap!
(There was no Word version of the form available).
I have to fill in name / address / phone number etc but can't seem to click in the line to fill anything in
I also have to select a tick box - but nothing happens when I click on it (other than a little hand grabbing at it).
I tried google but just keep coming up with sites which tell me how to create a form (not how to fill in a ready-made form).
I have Adobe Reader 7.0 and Acrobat Professional 8.0 on my pc.

It's nice to be important.....but it's more important to be nice

I was under the impression that PDFs were not editable and that was why they are used. How about printing, filling in and scanning back to them?:A

This is not true - you can send out PDFs that can be used as forms. I think the problem here is the OPs adobe reader is three main versions out of date.
Update your adobe reader opIf my post helped you in anyway, please hit the "Thanks" button! Please note any advice I give is followed at your own risk!0 -
What I have had to do in the past is:
Get the PDF on screen, full screen view
Print-screen
Open word
Paste the printscreen image onto the page
Crop and zoom it so only the page is visble and it fits onto the full page in word
Format the image to be behind text
Overtype the image with the text you want to fill in.
The form itself may be a bit grainy but what you type will be clear.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Is there a free/safe site where I can download the latest version?
Do I uninstall 7.0 first?It's nice to be important.....but it's more important to be nice0 -

Download and install the Free PDF XChange Viewer www.docu-track.com/product/pdf-xchange-viewer
Open the PDF document and use the "Typewriter Tool" to fill in form0 -
+1 for Free PCF XChange viewer.
Also, unlike Foxit, it doesn't try to fool you into installing toolbars, and is more than just a reader.Move along, nothing to see.0
