Money advice in USA

Hello,
Going to Vegas next week as was wondering what would be the recommended way for taking cash.
We last went 7 years ago and took Sterling Travellers cheques. Not sure if this is still the best way.
We have accounts with Nationwide (Flex) so not sure if it is cheaper etc just to draw out of ATM to save hassle of changing cheques.
Thanks for advice in advance.

Take some cash to last a day or so then use ATMs. Watch out for some which charge you to use them. I have found that the supermarket chains that have their own machines are usually free.0

We take US $ travelers cheques when we go to Vegas.
Its easy to get them cashed, go to any casino cage.

Unless you can buy cheques at a very good rate, I would and do use my nationwide card in ATMs for cash and a PO or Clarity credit card for prurchases/hotels.
If you take cheques (they are old hat now) take them in dollars.
If you go down the debit card route make sure you have a back up0 -
The new version of travellers checks is to load cash onto a cash card/cash passport from any main travel agent. It is insured and can be easily topped up.
There is no charge to use where you would usually use a cash card. However there is a 2% charge for using it at an ATM.0 -
Do a touch of research a long time before departing.
Take a wedge of $$s for incidentals and a couple of the best/most appropriate debit/credit cards and Bob will be your Uncle.
I wouldn't use TC's, as IMO, they are a faff.0 -

I have just got back from a trip to Italy. I had to cash a 100 Euro T/cheque and the cost was 18 Euros in commision. As I was told by my bank that it was better to take Euro cheques rather than Stirling cheques, believing that as they were already in Euros there would be practically no commision I was more than annoyed to say the least. After looking through this web site I will in future get some sort of Card for the express purpose of using abroad. I would not recomend Travellers Cheques to anyone.0

Why not just take cash like the Americans do ?
Every hotel room has a safe and every casino will change Sterling at around market rates.0
