single person benefit entitlement / re-training help

hello everyone

i am in the process of being made redundant and was hoping someone would be able to tell me what benefits i should be applying for. i have paid my contributions for 20years so as far as i am aware can apply for benefits but i'm not sure what.

also, if i want to do a college course (am a PA but want to train for social work) are there any organisations i can contact re free training or grants/loans?

thanks for your help

You can use the Entitled to (turn 2 us) online benefits calculator to get an idea of benefits. Do you have children, do you have savings, do you rent or own your place?

There is a Student Money board where some of the people there may be aware of grants/funding for social work.

    thanks Jowo.

I'll take a look now. Am single, no children, no savings, and live with friends so no rent as such. Am quite fortunate really especially as I have no credit card bills etc to pay out for either.
