Hi All
Just wondered if anyone had camped abroad before, and if so where, we dont really want to go France but are open to other places.
We have got our our stuff, but would also go to one where it is all put up for you, just wondered what your views were and where you have been.
Thanks

Went camping in New Zealand.. was excellent and the facilities over there are excellent."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

You don't say what you want from the campsite and why not France? Have done lots of camping in France, with family and on our own. Municipal sites are often quiet and have just basic facilities. There is one just up the road from us at Secondigny, quiet, shady, easy walk to supermarket, banks etc and free entrance to the adjacent municipal open air pool. If you want a truly rural site look at Le Frasnois in the Jura. A sloping, so few caravans, site leading down to a lake you can swim in. Plus surrounded by woods where you can gather wood and have a real campfire.
Lots of Dutch use the site, I think it is one of the top sites in their review book.0 -
Thanks for the replies, we have been to France a few times, not camping but hotels, and would just like to go somewhere different.
We wwas thinking of switzerland but not sure, so we are quite open, we would be going in August next year and my 9 year old son would be coming, we would like somewhere that either has a pool or can swim in a lake, and we can do a few activites, like walking, canoeing, fishing, a beach would be great but not that fussed, would like somehwhere quite, not to rowdy.
We have our own stuff but have seen you can go to some sites that have tents already up for you, but they are quite expensive, £700 for a week, which i think is alot.
So any views tips would be great.0 -
I stayed at a site near Lucerne which was good http://www.camping-international.ch/web_final/camping_luzern_angebot_shop_e.html

Try the Cinque Terre in Italy - we camped around here a few years ago. The Cinque Terre has 5 small villages (Riomaggiore, Monterosso, Vernazza, Manarola & Corniglia) that you can walk between (there is also a train which will connect them all). Its such a beautiful area, weather is great and its along the coast so there are plenty of beaches for swimming. We also went canoeing at one of the villages and I'm sure you could go fishing as well.
We camped in a town just up from the villages (I think Sestri Levante) and got the train to the Cinque Terre most days. There are a number of campsites around the area...perhaps try an internet search as they will likely have tents already set up.Kim Kiminey, Kim Kiminey, Kim Kim Cheroo, I does what I like and I like what I do!0
