Issues on credit report

Hi all,
Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but the official thread regarding credit report is in this forum so hopefully so.
I recently tried to join Tesco Mobile, and when doing it online, I had several issues. To cut a long story short, I ended up trying to sort it out 4 times and had no success. I gave up, couldn't be bothered and went with giffgaff who ended up being cheaper anyway.
I have just checked my credit report and have seen that I have 4 credit checks by Tesco Mobile in the space of 2 days. One of the issues I encountered was that I didn't realise I wasn't putting my full name on the application - so the online credit check was failing - just didn't think of that when applying. I phoned them up and they weren't sure what the issue was. It was only after the 4th time I tried, and then phoned up that the person told me it was because I didn't put my full name.
Can I get the multiple entries removed? Yes, it was my fault for not putting my full name, but as no one from Tesco could tell me why I was getting the error when trying to submit, it's not entirely my fault.

You could write to the credit agencies (all of them if pos) and ask then to add a note to your file explaining the situation. I don't think you can actually remove the searches...0

Ahh yes, that's what I meant.
Just something like that so it doesn't look as bad on my report. I read the article on here and it states:
"If you disagree with anything on your file, just write to the agency and request it's changed. If the agency agrees it should quickly change the file, though sometimes you'll need to talk to the company that originally filed the data."
The thing is, I don't know what "agency" is mentioned. Who do I contact?
Thanks,

the agency is the credit reference agency, you say in your first post that you checked your credit report and you have 4 searches, that is the agency you need to make contact with.
most CRA's will have an on-line dispute system, so you don't need to write to anyone, just fill out the on-line dispute and see what they come back with.
If its Equifax don't hold your breath getting anything sorted quickly, they are a bunch of incompetent muppets.
and with all respect it is entirely your fault, you should of read the form you were entering data into, how is that any fault of Tesco ? you are lucky they did not consider the applications as "fraudulent applications" and you could of got a CIFAS marker on your credit file, which is a dam site worse then 4 searches.
But good luck anyway:j:beer: :beer::j0 -
I understand where you are coming from Onters. In a perfect world the Tesco website should prevent you from applying unless a full name is entered. It's a basic form validation technique.0

I think you should have a good chance of getting some of them removed, there is no harm trying anyway. I would try with both the CRA and Tesco (Tesco will probably tell you to write in). I have just got some invalid entries removed from my report with Equifax - it actually took just over a week which wasn't too bad - I thought it would get dragged on forever. (Barclaycard which recorded the invalid info were worse than useless.0

It isn't as simple as that. I was actually told by Tesco themselves to apply again, but it's a long story over the course of several phone calls that resulted in me finally finding out about the full name issue (which wasn't the only issue). Bizarre error codes on a website application that mean nothing to me and a phone number to ring, where they don't know what the issue is and being told to apply again can hardly be blamed entirely on me.
Thanks to everyone who helped - yes it was Equifax so I will get in contact when I get home.0 -
Did it ask for name or first initial?0
