bank of santander false promises

I belong to a group of people who winter each year in Spain.
We have always banked with Nationwide to use our ATM without charges thru the winter.
This year Nationwide decided to charge for this service so we all changed to Bank of Santander as they promised banking abroad without charges
Changing all direct debits etc has taken several weeks and we are about to leave the UK for the sun.
Today we hear from the Bank that they have now decided to charge for this service against all promises when we opened the accounts.
There ofcourse isn,t time to change our affairs as we leave very soon.
We feel this has been false advertising to obtain new accounts and lots of our friends have been caught out by this and are very annoyed(to put it mildly!!!) Beware

If you are about to leave your Nationwide perks would still be available - their changes haven't come in yet.
Sounds like you jumped ship too early.
When do the Santander changes come in BTW? They haven't told me any different yet0 -
they come in in November, and we were only told on Friday about the charges at santander, by a teller at the bankIf you are about to leave your Nationwide perks would still be available - their changes haven't come in yet.

they are bringing in a £1.25 charge abroad but as far as I am aware there will still be no charges if you use a Santander ATM in Spain0

You need to make sure you have a Santander branded card - I asked about this before a recent trip to Menorca and because I still have an A&L version, charges would have applied. They don't say when old cards will be replaced.0
