About 3 weeks ago I was looking into changing broadband services. Looked at all the companies online but Talk Talk wanted permission to give me a ring back call to give me the quote. They did that night but we decided that because we were not in an area to take advantange of any cut price offers from any of the companies we would just stay with BT.
Within a few days I was receiving calls from a UK based number. I am also registered with the TPS so knew if they were doing this they had to have permission.. which lead me to think of Talk Talk immediatly.
These calls arre not even marketing calls, they're either calls that are just silent or they're someone shouting "hello hello, can you hear me" I get at least two a day.
I looked the number up online last Thursday and found pages and pages complaining of the same thing, talk talk silly 'harrassment' calls after refusing a quote.
Just what can I do? I'm angry that they can get away with doing this

Next time that number phones you scream as loud as you can down the phone as soon as you pick it up. If you're lucky you might even perforate a ear drum or two.0 -
The telephone number is 01656672900
and the who calls me info is http: //whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/01656672900 (can't post links just yet so that's why it's broken)
Thanks for any help you can give me.
I've emailed BT about it. Don't know if tey can help with stopping this but worth a try to a complete novice who just doesn't know what to do.
I'll keep in mind a written letter to 'someone' high up if there's no practical advice to be had. Thank you.0 -

It's funny how you 'opted in' and received calls within a couple of days, but opting out takes 28 days!0

I was never opted in. I never give consent, and always deny companys the right to contact me. These were also set up in my preferences. How many times must you opt-out? Once, and that decision should be honoured - its the law for petes sake.
I too was receiving annoying cold calls, when I again complained, this time to high level complaints (and the ICO/TPS) my details were removed from talktalk marketing. The calls stopped. Co-incidence, who knows.
A thread has been running on the tiscali forum since June regarding sales calls. In June it was stated that these cold calls were being investigated. Its now October and still no answers.
As for the excuse given last night on watchdog that the data was in sardinia, having worked on data migration projects before, thats a very lame excuse that we wouldn't even have tried on our clients..0
