Pavements! An accident waiting to happen !!!

Last Sunday coming back from the main road I tripped, stumbled and fell to the pavement. Grazed and bloodied hands / knees and foot!!!

Sometimes you can right yourself without falling over.

NOW I am walking head down as scared to go through all that pain again and it is amazing really how many uneven pavements there are!! (even on main roads!)

I am still in agony where the wounds are continuing to heal!!

the only thing you can do is write to your local council but there is probably not alot they can do in this financial climate, where ever you are in the uk its the same situation, the pavements are falling to bits, the roads have pot holes and crevaces everywhere, mostly due to last years winter, you really notice this, especially if your cycling and it is a big worry

i fell head first down the back steps a few months ago, we all just have to be a little bit more careful right now, especially now the weather is getting cold again

    Ban pavements!
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

The raised part has to be more than 1 inch in order to claim compensation. A friend was out jogging and tripped over a raised paving stone breaking his arm and as it was over the required height was able to successfully claim £2000 for damages. He had to take photos. He had the help of a solicitor because councils fight this type of claim all the time.

Councils have to investigate these claims very carefully. Think about it. It's simple enough to have a fall because you're drunk, or wearing high heels, or are just generally clumsy, and to then go out and find somewhere to blame. I once dealt with one where a bloke had "tripped" at night over a manhole that was raised about a foot in roadworks. On visiting the area, it was clear that at night he couldn't have walked past it, because residents parked their cars there. And then, to top it all, his casualty records said he'd fallen out of bed and was very drunk on arrival at hospital.

I think this is where councils fall down really, these claims come from their negligence if they repaired those pavements on a regular basis claims would never happen and people wouldn't injure themselves.

Or if people actually looked at where they were going and lifted their feet these accidents wouldn't happen.

Also the clues in the word 'Accident' people should stop trying to blame others and make easy money and take a little responsibility. All these claims do is increase our council tax so it's not free money.
  • Would you complain if there were no pavements?

Look were your going and you won't fall over
