Hi, I'm new to this board but looking for a little advice.
I am trying to buy Series 4 of Scrubs on DVD as a present for someone. On CD WOW I have come across both this at £24.99:
http://www4.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2.php?product_code=379018&subcat=region2
and this at £15.99:
http://www4.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2.php?product_code=375998
As far as I can see the only difference is that the cheaper one says regions 2 & 4 - surely this isn't a bad thing? Or is there more to it than this?
I don't want to buy the wrong thing and get caught out for being a big cheapskate
, but on the other hand I don't want to spend £9 extra for no reason
Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me any pointers

If your DVD player is multi region you have no problem.
Uk is region 2 so in theory both should work0 -
oing by what it says the cheaper one is region 2&4 so should work in uk dvd players. i would have thought there is no difference between the 2 versions aprt from price0

I'm going to take a guess that the second one (the Region 2 & 4 one) is the Australian release. CD Wow quite often source their stuff from there.
There's no reason why it shouldn't play fine on your DVD player, multi-region or not.
EDIT: It's worth pointing out that the more expensive one has a declared running time 40 minutes longer than the other one (525 mins vs 485 mins).0 -
It all depends whether the person you are buying it for has a Region free DVD player or not.
So long as the person has a Zone 2 or Region Free player, you should be good
Here is the list of Region codes:
0 Informal term meaning "playable in all regions"
1 Bermuda, Canada, United States and U.S. territories
2 The Middle East, Western Europe, Central Europe, Egypt, French overseas territories, Greenland, Japan, Lesotho, South Africa and Swaziland
3 Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea and Taiwan
4 Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, Oceania, South America
5 The rest of Africa, Former Soviet Union, the Indian subcontinent, Mongolia, North Korea
6 Mainland China
7 Reserved for future use
8 International venues such as aircraft, cruise ships, etc.0 -
Wow - speedy responses - thanks very much everyone :T
I did spot the different running times actually, but I guess that must be a difference in the extra bumph on there. So long as it doesn't turn up unplayable or dubbed in Japanese, that's the main thing.
Anyhow, I'll try the cheaper one then and hope for the best.

You can easily convert MOST DVD players to multi regional anyway (with a simple code keyed in to the handset). So if you do buy the wrong one it's not the end of the world.0

I've just ordered it, so if it doesn't work I'll undoubtedly be back asking how to do this!
Fingers crossed...'Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society.'0 -
whats your dvd player.?????
phillips, sony and other big brands tend to be hardest to crack.
the extra run time is because of the differnce in frames per second in PAL and NTSC most likely but there may be extra footage ( star wars 2 was a example of a extra small scene on the aussie version compared to uk. for reasons to boring to go into).
other than that your region 4 will be the same in every way ( should cd wow give a region 4 over 2)Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

That would usually be the most likely explanation, but in this case both editions are PAL.0 -
doh !!! and i own over 20 region fours.

:embarasse :embarasse Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0
