Buying a new KIA soul echo..

Don't bash me for it, but I'm in the position to buy a new car & damn it, buy I new car I will!!

However it has proved not to be so easy!

Done the rounds, ford, citroen, Peugeot etc and all but 1 (citroen) tried talking me into finance!

I'm in a fortunate position where I won't need it and have made this very clear! However, the main dealers start going on about paying monthly and getting a new car in a years time.. Blah blah blah! One even started saying about investing with Santander which would pay for the intrest on the finance!

What the hell is wrong with these people!!!

I'm now leaning towards either a KIA soul echo or a citroen c3 Picasso. The citroen dealer was fantastic, however if I do decide on the KIA, I'm not sure how to negotiate with the doofus who was trying to flog me finance!

Oh and they said they'd give me more money off with finance too!

Help!!

  • Hi

There is no money in cars any more; dealers will be lucky to make £100 from the sale of a new vehicle once it's been prepared, fueled and put on the road. You can therefore imagine how little a salesman/woman will make from selling a car alone.

Dealerships make far, far more money from the sales of finance and insurance products and that is why they are pushing you.

As you have the cleared funds to buy a new car my advice would be to buy a pre-reg or an ex-demo. If you pay cash for a new car you will lose an awful lot of money when you drive it away; if you buy pre-reg/ex-demo then that money has already been lost before you part with your money.

    Best of luck
