Painting cork floor tiles

In the past I've used cork tiles in my bathroom - they were self adhesive and already sealed, so not too much work involved. But they're not the most cheerful colour for a floor (although they made a phenomenal difference to the temp in a freezing cold bathroom).
Is there an easy way of painting them? Could I use ordinary emulsion or satinwood stuff, and if I did would I have to varnish on top to keep the paint looking good? Would I need floor paint, and if so should I varnish on top of that?
Hope someone can help, I love the warmth of cork tiles, just can't stand the colour, may have to go with laminate!

Wilson the Volleyball is one of Hollywood's most loved volleyballs. His glittering career started when he became the only companion of Tom Hanks' Chuck Noland in Cast Away. Many say this is Wilson's best performance and he couldn't have given a better effort.

Could you overpaint with a couple of coats of coloured varnish to change the colour?
I agree with the warmth of the floor though, we had them in our last bathroom and i loved them but when it came around to redecorating there wasn`t much choice for changing the floor colour without taking up the tiles.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon
