    Calm Down
I am passing this on to you because it definitely works, and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives. A friend passed this to me after watching the Dr. Phil show, you to can achieve inner peace. Dr. Phil proclaimed "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and never finished."

So I looked around my house to see all the tihings I started and hadn't finished and before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a packet of Choc Chip Cookies, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the Cheesecake, some Doritos and a box of Chocolates, and half a bottle of Scotch.

You have now idea how freaking good I feel right now.

Pass this on to those whom you think may be in need of inner peace.

  • Hi 3Dogs, how are you? I have been AWOL quite a bit of late. So I thought I would give my mates a bit of a giggle with Calm Down. It was passed to me by an old Army Mate. I don't hear from him that often but when I do he always passes on a Gem.

Hows you Mum and Mr 3Dogs? are things stable at the moment, and are you looking after yourself?

    Regards, Handy.:D

OK thanks - got back home on Saturday after 7 weeks up North - Mam still in the care home, well, it is a permanent place that she will not come out of, being the end-of-life or continuing care unit. When you think, before she went into hospital she could go to the toilet herself though she did have difficulty cleaning herself, could get a wash and get dressed herself, wander around the house, make herself a cup of tea and a light bite to eat, could eat cereal for breakfast, a full lunch and pud, cake and/or sandwich during the day, drink tea/juice, etc - after 3 weeks in hospital, when she was transferred to the unit, she is doubly-incontinent, can't even sit in a chair being bed-bound, receives fluid through a drip into her tummy/thigh, can eat a little porridge for breakfast and about half of her pureed mash, mince, gravy, veg dinner if you're lucky, and eats the ice cream or desseerts we give her sometimes. She can only drink sips from a spoon, not direct from the cup. A big change indeed - she is very frail :(

However, on the bright side, she can still get a smile and a laugh from her - and a lovely smile she has too :) she generally responds to what is going on, and can usually follow programmes on the TV to keep her occupied

As you know, it can be a long journey and no-one can tell when the journey will end, the next stop or much further down the line, so we just have to visit and keep her motivated and show we love her. My brother and sister, and my neice and her 2 girls, are sharing the visiting, and keeping me informed. I will be up there again on 8th January for a week, and then a week in February too - that's the plan anyway - as you know, plans are subject to change

I am OK - mind you, without the anti-depressants I went on a couple of years ago, I do not think I could have coped as well as I have, nor Mr 3Dogs either, without his meds, with being on his own for those 7 weeks. I actually sometimes feel oddly detached from it all, even when I was up there - think it is the meds :o Mind you, I was always the practical one, better at dealing with the practicalities of things, rather than the emotions taking over, so that part of me has been in action mostly

I too have not posted on here much either, preferring to post in the safe atmosphere of my diary these days, while dealing with this, but I do regularly read the thread to keep up to date

All the best Handy, love x x x

I think I know the one you mean Erme. It's on the corner? It used to be student halls once upon a time. :D So it'll likely be basic but it is massive and it's clean and it's handy for the city centre and transport links.

A pretty straightforward walk along the river to the conference then too, if the conference you are going to is the one I think it is (I think I saw it in a SAMH email).

If you're worried about directions or transport or anything, let me know nearer the time and I can help you out.

    Take care :)

I'm going to get DV a map for my phone....the conference is actually billed as a gathering...does that explain stuff? Really looking forward to it..I'm going down wednesday sometime, Free Presbyterian Prayer meeting on the Wed night, then conference thurs...spend sometime with friends on the Friday before megabus back etc.

Anyhow thinking of signing up for an online gaelic course...you can get the basics off the BBC alba site but you can also do a distance learning one with SMO (sabhal mor ostaig) with a phone tutorial once a week and you can get an ILA for that so I think you just have to pay £25...

Docs this am and we already have snow so if I want my morning doughnut I'd better get my sweet derriere a wobbling

Morning all. I've just finished an OU essay, I always stare at the computer for two days getting stressed then start it a few hours before it's due and fly through it no problem. I'm thinking that in future I should just accept that I'm not going to do it till the last minute and avoid the stress.

3Dogs, hugs, it's horrible watching someone go downhill so rapidly, everytime I visit mum I'm shocked by how much weaker she is. x
