Error on vista load

Hi I am getting the following error when trying to load windows Vista
It doesn't make it into windows, simply sisplays the below

"File: \Windows\system32\config\system32"
Status: 0xc00000e9

Info: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt

Can anybody help, I got no recovery CD whatsoever with the system.

I have a lot of work on here I can do without losing.

Thanks guys

Try safe mode with command prompt, then run chkdsk c: /F

If it doesn't work, the easiest way of getting data back is to attach to another pc internally or use a usb caddy available for a few pounds.

If you don't have a recovery CD, there will probably be a factory restore partition, but using this will wipe all data.

  • Connected it to my main pc as a slave and it wouldn't let me access the drives.
I then tried it in a SATA usb caddy and it didn't display the drive, or rather, it did, but then dissapeared when you click on it

Still not clear, drives or folders, you can see the drive letter in explorer, can you see any folders (if so , it's probably folder permissions).

You should have used a Recovery CD.

Download and save this Vista Recovery Disc Image to a working computer.
Next, download and install ImgBurn(No need to install the Yahoo Toolbar. Remove the relevant tick). Burn the Image to Disc. Use this guide(skip step 2b)[/QUOTE]

Boot into the Recovery Disc and choose Startup Repair.

  • Which file do I select from the vista recovery folder? As I am getting an erro

Are you referring to me or closed? I did not direct you to to any folders.

When trying to write the image to a cd, it gives me an error and says the file isn't large enough

Maybe you can begin again, this time following my instructions more closely.

Perhaps you can describe step by step how you have followed the instruction. Use Internet Explorer to download so that the results are predictable.
