in Credit cards
Hi all,
I have a question about applying for credit cards. BAsically the situation is this. My partner applied for a Tesco credit card in her name and was accpeted but she forgot to press confirm on the last page and so it didn't go through.
Then she was going to work so I decided to apply in my name just to see what would happen but my rating isn't great at the moment and I was rejected.
I told my partner this on the phone and she asked me to submit hers again. I know all of her details etc so I went through the application process again in her name. On the last page where it had previously said accepted on her application, and rejected or unsuccessful on my application it said something else.
I cant remeber exactly what but it said something about being declined on personal details.
Can anyone tell me why or explain what we can do about this?
I would be very greatful.
Thanks

probably already accepted on the system the first time, so when you tried again it know you'd had an application in the last x period and automatically declined it.
Ring them up and make sure the first application is being processedYes Your Dukeiness0 -
Cheers for the quick reply, I hope that is the case, I'll ring them tomorrow and check.
Question, you know how you can have a card holder and a second card holder, does the second card holder's credit affect the first person's application. I don't mean a joint account, I just mean a holder of a second card.0 -
Hi
Being a second cardholder (or additional cardholder or authorised user as they are otherwise known) will not have an impact on the credit rating of the main account holder. The credit card company will only search on the main applicant and will only report to the Credit Reference Agency (CRA) on the main applicant as well. Likewise the second cardholder wil gain no credit rating benefit from that card.

Is this the case for all cards? I asked this the other day and there wasn't a consensus.
Cheers,0 -
The basic answer is yes. If you think in terms of the agreement only the main cardholde actually signs. This signature agrees responsibility for the spending on the card (and as such any debt incurred) and the same signature is the one that agrees to a credit search being undertaken. The second cardholder does neither of these and as a result does not have a search performed and has no responsibility for the debt.

I did the exact same thing the other day, I got to a page saying I had been accepted but there was another confirm button, however I got sidetracked while reading though the page, came back and it had closed (I assumed the automatic timeout feature) so I tried again and was refused, a day or 2 later I received 2 letters, one with all the docs I need to sign to get the card, the other informing me that I was rejected for applying for another card before the application for the 1st was completed,
I am slightly concerned however that by doing this twice that I may have adversely affected my credit rating0 -
Will I have adversley affected our credit by filling in the form several times, probably 5 times in total. Because obviously the first time she forgot to press submit, and then when I tried to do it for her I presumed I had entered the details incorrectly.
Also, will they link her to me? As in will her good credit be affected by my poor credit because we both applied? Is it possible to be linked in this way?0 -
you can't call up to check on an app in your partner's name. the main cardholder will have to call to confirm what is happening with the application.Kavanne
