Installing a Printer to my laptop using Windows 7

I currently have an Epson R300 printer which is networked to a few pc's.
It works fine with my old laptop as that uses windows xp, but last year I bought a new laptop and it has windows 7 on it.
I have installed the epsom disc onto the laptop and looked for the drivers, but I still can't get it to print.
I end up plugging in my old laptop and printing from there which is a pain as it's so slow.
Does anybody know what could be wrong and why I can't print from my windows 7 laptop.
The printer is defaulted to an old desk top pc upstairs which isn't a problem as thats how we have always had it.
Help would be much appreciated please.

Is it attached to the computer upstairs? If so, you need to add a networked printer. It won't be able to print to it if it thinks its on a USB port....0

Yes I've networked it. It was ok until I changed my laptop to one with windows 7.
I will try and print, pull out an error report and could I send it you to see what maybe wrong?0
