Eurotunnel - Not using the return half of a ticket ?

Eurotunnel have so many 24 hour and 5 day deals that make the crossing a fraction of the price of a normal return, but I am wondering what happens in practice if the return leg is not used.
I know that the T&C say that they will (or can ?) charge the full fare for the outbound, but do they actually do this in practice ?
Would I be more likely to be clobbered if I had also purchased a separate (return) ticket for the homebound leg and there were therefore two bookings showing in the system at the same time ?
Has anyone actually tried this ? Just to clarify, I do actually mean Eurotunnel and NOT Eurostar !
Thanks

When we lived in Belgium, a lot of people did this, but they did catch on and start retrospectively charging people.
We got away with it a few times, but be careful.

Surely to retrospectively charge you, you would have needed to pay by credit card? Can you not just turn up and pay cash?
I've never used the tunnel so don't know whether you can do this or not0 -
Ferries have the same deals. I think they log your REG or something. Have heard of folk getting away with it and others who didnt.0

The special deals are done usually with credit card.

Maybe using Speedferries or Norfolk line might save you the hassle, their fares are usually less than £50 each way fixed for any duration of stay. I prefer Eurotunnel but since they abolished their real cheap fares , they used to do an evening return for £6 !! I shop around. Mrs PR is not the best sailor but can just about manage the hour or so on the short sea routes.0

There was a detailed article in the Guardian a couple of years ago about using one half of return tickets, where Richard Colbey (a barrister) explored the legal issues - worth a read.
