Exploding Bozita tins!

Hi all, I bought some Bozita cat food from Zooplus about a month ago and when I went to open a tin a couple of weeks back the food exploded out of the tin and into my face.
It smelt absolutely vile - like manure- and I had to wash down kitchen units, my clothes and my hair because it seemed to permeate everything
I had to put the tin into my wheelie bin outside because the food continued to be trying to escape from the tin!
I thought this was a one-off but last night the same thing happened and I had to wash everything again!
I have emailed Zooplus beause I'm not opening any more tins and I think they should either refund me or send me replacements. I'm not sure whether I will use Bozita food anymore either
I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this??
Thanks

there was someone on petsforum who had this problem!

Oh it was our own paddypaws. Maybe she will see this post and come update us!
I think it was probably a bad batch. I'm sure zooplus will refund you. I wouldn't open any more cans with the same batch number!
I guess with the tetrapacks you can tell if there's something wrong like that before you open them; but I know some people prefer the cans.0 -
sounds quite frightening.
I tried the tetra packs & then someone suggested Animonda Carny tins & as it's so good (% meat) & also cheap have just reordering a twelvepack since.0 -
Thanks for your replies
I've emailed them so I am hoping something will be sorted out. I won't be opening any more cans, I'm too worried about getting covered in smelly cat food again!0 -
Methinx that zooplus can't really deal with alot of customers - I have spent AGES trying to get an order. Will possibly be my last order with them. Can anyone recommend another site that sells Animonda Carny Adult Cans?0

I have had a couple of bad experiences with cans sent mail order (not bozita). I et the tetra packs, and have had one arrive punctured within the secondary packaging and therefore obviously totally off, and would have exploded in a can. But the one tetra pack v the number of dented/off cans of premium cat food makes it the best option for us. My cats get through about a tetra pack each a day so this works well for me.0

Yes I had exactly the same problem...what a disgusting experience that was! Like you say the meat kept on frothing and expanding out of the can. I double wrapped it in bin bags but as luck would have it the bin men did not come that week...there were maggots crawling out of the wheelie bin by the time it was emptied!
I spoke to Zooplus who refunded for all the cans in that order without quibble. Now, I have had deliveries in the past where the tins were badly damaged in transit, but that particular package was perfect.
I also emailed Bozita direct and received a formulaic brush off. Nothing since. Must see if I have saved the message and chase up.
I am now kicking myself for not keeping a note of the batch number as I would actually like to buy Bozita again but my confidence is severely damaged.0 -
Thanks for your replies.
Paddypaws - yes I'd like to buy Bozita again as my kitty likes it and it seems to be the one that satisfies his hunger most (as much as possible anyway coz he's lead by his belly!).
I may go for the tetra packs and see how they go but still waiting to hear from Zooplus.
Thanks.0 -
Hi all,
Well I got a refund from Zooplus so that's good so I think I will try the Tetra packs this time.
Just interested what other cat foods do the same sort of meat content as Bozita, if any? I'd like to see if there are any other brands out there should I have any more problems with Bozita!

Bozita Tetra packs (multipack) reduced @ Zooplus currently - no idea if is linked to the Aniconda Carny being out of stock but ordered it in the interim.0

I use Bozita tetra packs and have done for ages. Not had a problem with any of them so far and delivery has always been prompt for me. Thoroughly recommend.0
