Mature student rail card

hiya, I am wondering if I am being daft to complain, have sent an email to rail card place as when I looked at their shiny website buying a rail card online gives even more benifits such as YHA membership and discount on the card itself if you buy a three year one, but mature students can't book online as you have to get your application verified by the uni which given that you have to get an NUS card to prove you are a student anyway I think it pretty daft...ok rant over!

Does an NUS card prove you are a full time student?

    Not too sure about that?

Only if it has the ISIC logo on it.

ISIC does not prove you're a full time student, and nor is it compulsory. I'm with the OU, and my NUS Extra card gave me an optional upgrade to ISIC if I paid £1.99.

So here is an example of a student with an NUS card who is not eligible for a 16-25 Railcard.

    Their website says...
Open University, distance learning and part-time courses don't qualify

Ah... ok... sorry about that. ;)

    What I should've said was...

So here is an example of a student with an NUS card who, if over 25, would not be eligible for a 16-25 Railcard.

An NUS extra card is a different beast to an NUS card. Anybody over 16 in education can BUY an NUS extra card. My daughter has one and she is still in school doing GCSEs. She has it for the discounts.

Unfortunately, you're outdated. There is no such thing as an "NUS card" any more. The "NUS extra" is the official NUS card that you need to obtain any discounts.
