Credit card write to inform of decision

Options
Hi all,

(you probably get asked this a lot, i did use the search function first but didn't turn up anything too comparative)

My 0% deal is running out so i applied for the mbma 16month 0% card this morning, they have advised me that they will be writing to inform me of their decision within 7-10 days.

In the past i seem to remember being being told instantly if it was good news and being written to if it is bad news, can anyone confirm if this is the case based on their own experiences? or is it still possible that i've got an acceptance?

Thanks all

You could have one of four outcomes. This may not be how MBNA do things, but I'd hazrd a guess that it is.

    An automated yes.

    A manually underwritten yes.

    A manually underwritten no.

    An automated no.

For the last three decisions, a letter will indeed be on its way. You just don't know what the outcome is going to be yet.
  • I've done a littel more digging on this and it turns out that if you apply outside of normal working hours it will always give you a refer.

(this is taken from mbna website)
How long does it take to get a decision on my application?

If you apply online between the hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, you could get an instant decision. For all other applications, you should hear from us within 7 to 10 working days.
  • I had written confirmation for my MBNA card when I applied. Took 4 weeks to come!

  • I got the 7-10 day message and got an acceptance by email about 2 weeks later - gave me credit limit too and said card will be with me in another 7-10 days.
