Probably due to overheating. Have a look at the vents to see if they are blocked up with fluff etc.

It could be that the battery is near to the end of it's life and simply dies suddenly. see here for a start.

Storage capacity of a battery can get worse over time. The life will depend on how exactly it has been used and obviously it's age. If a full charge is not lasting as long now as it did before, I would think that I would need replacing unfortunately. That was just one site that I found but google for the best price.

The laptop is about 18 months old, it has always been used to 15% of battery then recharged to full, and started again, it still seems to last as long as it always has, its just it has started shutting off rather than warning me:confused:

Might be worth checking with the vendor if there have been any battery problems with the model you have.

It is over 12 months now, so warranty is out anyway, but yes it may help in determining whether its the battery, but i keep thinking it must be something with the computer rather than the battery, just cant find out where it could be, like i have said i have reset all options and it still happens:confused: But thank you for all your help

Very good point as there have been problems with several different makes of laptop batteries which have only recently been publicised.
