This thread is a wind up methinks.0

That is why they put the camera by the hill. No doubt about it, you were speeding so pay up and get on with your life and don`t forget about the brake or changing down a gear next time0

Maybe we should amend speed limits to say if going up hill 30mph, if going downhill 36mph but what about going along the flat????

Just don't speed. Use your brakes.

I seem to be the only one who thinks the OP has posted a tongue in cheek story here so in case I am wrong and this isn't a wind up I will answer the last question. No, you cannot take the original points and fine once you have gone to court.0

Change gear when going downhill and this will lower your speed.0

i was just wondoring if this appeal may be worth submitting or not
Not .... unless it's your intention to give the Magistrates a smile .. before they find you guilty as charged?Sand_Man wrote:if i do appeal it, do i have the options afterwards to accept the 3 points and fine before going to court (if my appeal was not sucessful)
No. To quote from your signature ... you can't have your (fruit)cake and eat it. You can plead guilty - and get the 3 points + fine. Or you can plead innocent and almost certainly be found guilty .. and run the risk of a slightly larger fine than had you pleaded guilty in the first place. Or .. you can plead guilty but write your letter, blaming the hill, as an extenuating circumstance! Personally - I'd advise against that as they may consider you're taking the proverbial.lisa76 wrote:also make sure there was a camera sign near where the van was - not sure of the technicalities, but if the camera sign is a different colour than the law states it should be then you can get off

i do not have facts to hand but i know that hundreds of people were let off speeding fines recently because a policeman found a loop hole regarding the right colour of the signs
i am not condoning speeding but am merely trying to help save the op's licence and some money0 -

As previous - there does not need to be a 'camera sign' - and there would not have been in this case because it was a mobile.
Where there is a camera sign - because the cameras are fixed - they have to conform to the requirements regarding road signs in general. And there has recently been a case where 2 policemen, in Cleveland, have successfully appealed their speeding cases because the border colour of the signs was incorrect. And there has been another case where a single motorist (no 'hundreds' in evidence?) successfully appealed his case because the local 30mph signs (immediately changed) had the wrong background colour :-But the 64-year-old doctor of philosophy said the speed limit sign was illegal as it had yellow backgrounds instead of the normal white ones.
But no successful appeals on the basis that a hill intervened or a mobile camera was not signed - in as far as I'm aware. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Hi
Try https://www.pepipoo.com - I've taken their advice on a NIP I received for an alleged speeding offence.....
Their forums are very useful if you have any questions relating to any aspect of speeding/cameras.
