Renault clio Problem
Hi Guys I have a 2005 1.6 Renault Clio which has only covered 30K miles and yesterday the engine lost power and started missing, being somewhat clueless on maintenance i took it to my local garage and they took the plugs out and discovered plug 4 was covered in oil. They changed the plug and the car started running ok but i am very concerned that there may be a more serious problem on its way,the car has never been a problem and has never used any oil or kicked any smoke out.Any advise will be helpful

My bet would be that Renault route crankcase oil vapour into piston 4..... OR the hose connection happens to be very close to number 4. (It'll be a simple push on hose connection)
The purpose of this is to a) reduce crankcase pressure and prevent HG failures b) to prevent oil vapour venting into the atmosphere (mot failure).
So I think you'll have the inlet manifold full of oil/gunk and it'll need clearing at some point as it'll cause poor fuel efficiency if nothing else.
For now it shouldn't cause a problem until the plug gets bunged up again (may take quite a long time)
None of this would have happened if the car was regularly serviced, plugs replaced and engine filled up with fresh, clean, good quality engine oil.
If you think it has been serviced then i'd be asking why the plugs were not changed.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
