As my DS2 approached school age I started getting broody feelings but knew deep down I didnt want another....then 3 weeks after he did start school my OH left for another woman! Fast forward 10 years and what I'm finding now is that I'm getting insanely jealous of friends with toddlers, and really missing those times...obviously it's all tied in with my DS1 just starting uni but for the last year or so I've been almost grieving for my the fact I no longer have that adoration from my kids, that feeling that mummy's the most wonderful person in the world, them running to me to hold my hand and give hugs and kisses. I don't it matters what age etc....it never goes once you get to become a mum!0

I went through this when my youngest daughter started school in 2006. I assumed it was a normal reaction and would pass, as did just about everyone I spoke to about it. I got a part time job, got involved with a charity and took up a couple of hobbies to keep myself busy and focused on enjoying my lovely girlies.
Turns out it wasn't a phase. I'd never really given any thought to the number of children I wanted, everyone in the last two generations of my family has two (both my nans had 5 but that was in the 50's and early 60's) and it'd never actually occurred to me that people had more on purpose!
Anyway to cut a long story short (ish!) the more time that went by the more I realised how much I really did want a bigger family and as you can see from my signature I had a little boy in April this year.We all adore him and hubby and I have already been talking about how he might not be our last.
So to answer the OPs question yes I think it is normal and may well be a phase but sometimes it can be more than that.:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0 -
i'm always broody. but fortunalty for me , hubby is the same. we have 3 already. dd is 6, ds 5 and ds 2.5. we want more and will have a couple more very soon. but i don't think that broody feeling ever goes away. i'm dreading our youngest starting nursery in april. i love my little ones being at home and look forward to every half term.0
