Help - Harsh singe lines in Wimbledon - entrapment???

Pls can anyone help me. I got a PCN in Wimbledon for parking on a single yellow line in wimbledon last wk. Palmerston Rd, by the theatre. They've got a sign at the ENTRANCE to Palmerston rd saying (really confusingly actually) that the rd is restricted untill 11.15pm (!!). But if you drive out of the car park behind the theatre as I did, (cos it was full) and turn right into Palmerston rd, and park up on the yellow - you don't go past the sign saying there's anything unusual about that single yellow

(it wouldn't let me put a map link in here, cos of the anti-spam rules but if you googlemap wimbledon theatre u'll see it easily!)

After I parked I looked all around from where I was, both sides of the rd - couldn't see a sign though there were lots of clear signs re residents parking bays, etc Then I walked back THRU THE CAR PARK so still didn't see the sign at the head of the rd.
The fact is I can't really afford to go to court and be wrong but this one has REALLY annoyed me. To get our cash, they obviously WANT to trick us into breaking the law and that I find deeply disturbing, as it's not what laws were intended for.
Does anyone know enough about signage requirements to know if it's worth going for? Are we obliged to walk 30 yards down a street to see if it's not a 'normal' single yellow??
Any help greatly appreciated on this one folks!
Craig

You don't ever go to Court over a PCN issued by a Council in a decriminalised area.

And you won't be clobbered with having to pay anything more than the actual (non-discounted) fine even if you take your case to the parking adjudicator. There are no other costs for doing so, which is why I always say I would appeal ANY Council parking ticket right to the wire. Usually they make mistakes with the paperwork, wither with the PCN itself or with the subsequent replies to your appeals.

As well as seeing the signs and lines, their regular posters will also need to see the front AND back of your PCN in full (just blank out your car ID and PCN number). Chances are you can get off the PCN as most win on pepipoo, there are always grounds for appeal but don't be put off if the Council reject it at first.

    Good luck.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
