Has anyone heard of Cater Allen?

Hi all,
I received a personal invitation in the post this morning to open a bank account with Cater Allen but this is the first time I've heard of them and I'm not sure if I should go for it or not. I have never had any dealings with this bank before and I don't know why they have contacted me out of the blue like this but the brochure seems to show they offer a really good service, can you tell me more? should I give them a try or stick with my ordinary high-street bank? To be honest I've been looking to change bank for a while now but I think like a lot of people you're not as pro-active about it as you should be and that's probably why I haven't got round to it so far. I have visited lots of high street banks, Lloyds TSB, Santander, Halifax etc. Santander especially were really keen on me transferring to them and they said I'd be contacted by the relevant department in due course. Thanks for your help.

Cater Allen is part of the Santander Group.
If you want to change current accounts, if you state who you are with now and why you want to change, suggestions can be made about what accounts might suit your needs.
Alternatively, you can search for previous threads on this topic - for instance, First Direct usually comes out top for customer service..

Hi Sunil,
Right now I'm with RBS/Natwest, have been for a longtime. I'm not really all that big a user of my Current Account as I'm not a big spender and don't have many outgoings, prefer to keep my life simple. Most of my money goes towards saving when I can but unfortunately I was made redundant a few months ago and that means I'm unsure whether Cater Allen would accept me in my present situation. I am actively seeking work and as a very badly disabled person I receive much higher rates of benefits which are giving me a total income each month of £801 with little to no outgoings and I intend to keep it that way after what I've learned on the forums.
I haven't been happy with RBS/Natwest for a while now and I guess I should have moved away from them sooner. I really value a personal service with a prestigious touch, high-street banks seem to have become faceless corporations that don't really pay attention to the individual customer anymore and that is something I miss, every customer wants to feel appreciated and valued. I now have a better idea of where this correspondence might have come from since you mentioned Santander, thank you! I was in my local branch recently and was told that the relevant department would contact me in due course and that they were sure I'd get everything sorted out to my satisfaction and that they looked forward to welcoming me onboard. I greatly appreciate your help.0
