I know this maybe a stupid question but I have 6 months left on my car insurance but I'm getting a new car next week, can I swap my car on my policy so i don't have to buy new insurance thus losing out on 6 months cover?

Just call up customer services, tell them the new details and they'll swap the car over on your policy so it'll still run till renewal
Expect a possible additional premium/return premium... or it may even stay the same! depending on what car0 -
Just to endorse what adamc260 says, its an easy process, just ring them up, if your new car is more expensive to insure you will have ot pay the extra for the next 6 months, its really as simple as that.

Before you actually change your vehicle you should contact your insurers to ensure that they will provide the cover.
There have been a couple of threads on here recently from people who changed cars, rang insurers and were told that they wouldn't (for whatever reason) insure the new vehicle.
This might be relevant if the vehicle is an import, or you are a younger driving changing to a higher group car.
Thought it worth mentioning as if you buy the new car and then find they won't provide cover, you could find yourself in a bit of a mess.0 -
Gpod point from bd1 there, Ive seen a couple of these threads too.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Before I buy another car I always get a couple of quotes off the comparison web sites
one for existing car and one for new to see what the difference is.
Edit to make clear. That way I have an idea how much it will cost to change my insurance (or even if they will insure)0 -
Unwise if you are only halfway through the ins. term though, when there is a big cancellation fee due.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
