New build - buildings insurance required?

We are in the process of buying a newly built property, which has NHBC cover. My question is, if we have this cover, do we need to buy our own buildings insurance?
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Simple Answer - Yes
The NHBC covers the builder for building defects, your buildings insurance will cover fire, theft, flood etc etc....0 -
Your mortgage lender will insist on buildings insurance.0

Thanks for the responses!0

If it's a flat, the service charge may include buildings insurance - mine does. Check with the developer / management company before parting with any cash!0

Thanks - it's a house so I think we are out of luck there! But thanks for the response.0
