HSBC Online Payment Question

Hi, I will soon need to send £300 from my HSBC basic bank account to my co-operative student account, and I was wandering if there will be any charges imposed when using internet banking to do this, and also how long will it take for the payment to arrive in my co-op account?

Thanks in advance.

Providing, of course, that the "other" account can receive FPs.

OP, why not try a £1 test transfer first? If you can't spare a pound then check if the other account can receive FPs here...

  • Many thanks, according to that link it can accept FPs, so all's good.

  • I always do a £1 check anyway, just to make sure it's the right account etc - rather lose a pound than say £100!

Like have been said test it first with small amount £1.00 and see what happen. This is what I always do. The list above about FP it is just indicative and not always true.

    Difficult to say.
In my experience in majority of cases yes, in case both banks except FP. You could see that coming into your destination a/c within minutes assuming you are doing yourself using IB.

But when the amount is quite high let say £1,000 majority is not. So do not just believe the list that have been made available. Are they deliberately do this to keep some interest, I do not know.

Yes, HSBC supports sending faster payments seven days a week - up to £10,000/payment.

You just need to check that the other bank account can accept faster payments via http://www.ukpayments.org.uk/sort_code_checker/

Charges would be applied in accordance with the terms and conditions of the account (and could be free), not imposed which infers that they are fees that you have not been told about.
