doggy insurance - can anyone help?

Hi - not sure if this is the right thread - but i'm after a decent pet insurance for my dog. He's in fine fettle but kennel club (who we have been with since he was a pup) are so expensive and getting more so. I love my dog to bits. I hate to have no insurance (just in case), and would never be without, but am hoping someone can point me in the right direction of a decent insurance company who don't charge the earth. There are so many to choose from - but im hoping some kind peep will be able to point me in the right direction (thru your own experiences). My doglet is 4 years old, no health problems. Any help out there would be gratefully received. xx

Oh edit - I have just seen I should have posted this under pet care. Apologies. The reason for asking is my OH has just been medically retired - serious heath probs. We are just trying to find the best route forward now. Just going to copy this over to pet care. xx
