I have edited this as after a sleepless night, I think I know what has happend.

It is complcated so I wont trouble you with the details and can only hope that the insurance company see that there has been a genuine mistake.

Thank you for all the help, I am afraid that I will be back for more as I am scared that my insurance might be cancelled.
I can only hope they just charge me for any increase in premium that I should have paid when I failed to update my policy for 8 months prior to renewing it again with the wrong details but this was because I somehow selected the wrong quote, a quote that I dont understand why it was there.

If you had organised every thing with the othe partys insurance company, and it was all sorted, why is the claims manaement company involved, what is their role in this. It seems as if they are working for you.

You said in your post, you did not use them so why do they want all this information.
Are you claiming any injury from the other party through them.
    Its all very confusing.

You should also be aware that you are obliged to inform your own insurance company, make sure you tell them it is for information only.

If you dont, there could be repercussions later on when or if you make a claim down the line. Its probably in your terms and conditions that you have to inform them.

  • Has the other driver made a claim against you for personal injury?
As long as you were not using the car for business purposes and only commuting to and from work I can't see the problem. Ring your insurers and ask for an explanation of whats going on.

I had an accident and the guy admitted liability then, 2 mth later changed his mind, said the accident was my fault and made a claim against me and for personal injury, 18mth later it's still ongoing!

Your insurance details are of no concern to the third party insurers. I don't know what they mean by requesting "original copies" of your documents, but don't send them any originals at all - especially if you don't want your car written off. You do not need to send any insurance documents at all to the third party.

Separately, if you haven't disclosed anything you should have done to your own insurers, then you need to now. This won't have any effect on your claim, though may result in your insurer revising your premium.

this is why it is confusing, if you are dealing with the thrid party insurance yourself, the AMS should not be involved at all.

It looks as if you have unwittingly involdved them so they are actually working for you. They will want a fee, the other party will have to pay them, tey will claim it from them, Thats the job of AMS, they work for you, claiming from the other party for you, so that you dont have to do anything apart from give them details so that they can work on your behalf.
Think youve got a bit muddled and not understood what was happening.
